SNAKE PROBLEMS

Finding snakes anywhere on your property or in your home can be frightening.  Just the idea of one being in your home is too much for people to think about so finding one can be overwhelming and upsetting.  Most people do not know which snakes are venomous and those that are not venomous.  For that reason you should never try to handle them on your own.  There are hundreds of species in North America and thankfully, most of them are non venomous. However, unless you know which ones are or aren’t, you should not go near them for any reason.  Even the non venomous varieties can still inflict painful bites if agitated.  Snakes can be found in several common locations at residential properties.  Yards, attics, crawl spaces, walls and basements are just a few of those places.  When you think you may have a snake on your property you should call us right away and do not try to remove it on your own before we get there. We will need to complete a full inspection of your home and yard, including the attic and crawl space.  If you find one or evidence of one in your Cherokee County home, call us immediately. We are available 24/7 for emergency snake removal.

UNDERSTANDING SNAKES

Having a professional remove a snake is the best way to go.  We understand how to locate them.  Snakes have an organ called the vomeronasal organ, used to pick up scent.  It also tells them where to find prey.  This is how they find an opening in a home with a rodent problem and that problem will become a snake problem in no time at all.  Locating this food source for the reptiles is key in locating them.  We will find any possible  food source and eliminate it.

SNAKES IN YARD

It is very common to see snakes in the yard here in Murphy. More than likely they are just passing through but in some cases they can be a danger to children or pets. While they do help control the rodent population on your property you do not want a dangerous situation for your family so it may be necessary to have them removed.  There are things that may need to be done to the yard to make it less attractive to these reptiles. Overgrown grass and shrubs create a great hiding place. Also, if there is a lot of debris in your yard it can serve as shelter for snakes, so clean up may be necessary.  If you notice bird nests in shrubs or rodents outside on your property they may be attracting the snakes as well. Other nearby construction could also be a cause because they are being pushed out of their habitat and looking for new shelter.  Call us to schedule an inspection of your yard and home right away if you notice a problem.
